2 February 2015 - I would like to thank you all for coming to this press conference and would also like to wish you all a Happy New Year. Last year, we conducted peaceful and credible elections, being the sixth since Independence. We also had the distinct honor of being the first African country to conduct elections using the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), a process that turned out to be a resounding success. Namibian Film Wins at International Film Festival
A film titled “Pride of Namibia” has won the Best Short Film award at the largest film festival in the United States. The film was produced by the World Wildlife Fund and is about empowered communities and responsible tourism in Namibia. It was shown at the Wild and Scenic Festival in the United States on Monday night. A total of 4,500 films were submitted at the festival, of which 130 were official selections and the “Pride of Namibia” film came out on top in the short film category. Read more

Namibian Wildlife
The ruggedness of the Namibian landscape has obviously done nothing to deter both flora and fauna from adapting and thriving. Here, the very act of survival can sometimes be an art. The shear abundance and variety of wildlife of all sizes is staggering. Read more
Climbing the Dunes of Sossusvlei
There are several massive dunes near the iconic Sossusvlei in Namibia, and hiking to the top of these dunes is a wonderful way to get amazing panoramic views of the famous vlei and its surroundings. There are no restrictions as to what dunes you can climb up, but there are trails that are more popular than others. Read more
